Network Problems During Registration Verification

Are you connected?

To register BaseGolf we will need to pass your name and registration code to our Alitius server. In order to do this your machine must be connected to the Internet through dial-up, broadband or LAN connection.

Since BaseGolf is sold online we assume all machines should have a way to reach our servers. If you have a situation where your machine cannot reach our server, please email us and we will resolve this with you another way.

Can you reach our website?

BaseGolf's registration process takes place on our website, so if you can reach this page you should be able to register our game.

We use the same technology that displays our web pages to process our registrations, so if you can access our website but are getting connection problems trying to register it is likely that you have Firewall software which is blocking BaseGolf.exe from connecting to the Internet as a client. This is a non-intrusive, safe and minimal transaction that is required to register BaseGolf.

Do you have a firewall?

We use standard HTTP port 80 to connect to our server, so no hardware or external firewalls should block this process.

Firewalls that work on a per-program basis can block BaseGolf.exe from connecting to our server, so you will need to set it to allow client Internet traffic to pass through. Server Internet traffic does not need to be checked on if this is an option.

Something to note: since BaseGolf has features that can check for new versions of the game and automatically report any errors you have so we can fix them, it would be preferable to allow BaseGolf.exe to access the Internet as a client. We only send the minimum amount of information for error reporting, nothing personal, and send no information at all for update checking.

Can you connect to other sites?

If the game says you cannot connect to register and you cannot connect to our Alitius page, then you need to check if you can connect to other web sites as well.

We recommend checking several sites, including ones you have not been to in the last day. Sites you have recently been to may be cached in your DNS tables, so you may be able to access them while not being able to access our site or others you have not recently accessed.

Here are a selection of sites that are almost always up, and make good tests: Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, CNN.

If you cannot access other sites on this list, or elsewhere, then you need to contact your Internet provide (ISP) to repair your DNS.
